| Approved by the Ministry of Education, the Department of French Language and Literature (the “French Department” for short) was established in 2006, started enrolling undergraduates in 2007 and was granted the qualification to confer master degree in 2011. It is a council member of the China French Teaching Society, and enrolls 30-odd undergraduates and 4 to 6 graduate students annually all over China. After 7 years of development, the Department has made great improvement in teaching conditions, course offering, teaching faculties, teaching management and scientific research, forming a comprehensive teaching system in the fields of French literature, French culture and translation. The Department has signed cooperative and exchange agreements with such prestigious overseas universities as University of Paris XIII (France) and University of Montreal (Canada), and has established a joint training mechanism so that the top undergraduate students can study abroad, thus greatly increasing its overall strength, which helps to cultivate a large number of talented personnel in French language and literature. |
